The Crowne Plaza Caserta - Home for Months?

So this is an unusual location in Italy.  Hotels tend to be in the center of town - step out and the vigor, ambience and charm of a city is right there before you, not to mentions dozens of great eating options.

That's not to say this hotel is not nice.  It has two good restaurants and a massive "open air"  atrium (covered by a glass grid).

But the brand new Crowne Royal in Caserta is in a somewhat decrepit industrial zone.

I mean, there's dozens of wild dogs (big wild dogs) roaming around, although quite passive so far.

Many of the factories here look like remnants of WWII bombings, though I doubt that the case.

In any event, the hotel and surrounding business and apartment complexes are all new - many still under construction.  So far I like it, and if I need a change there is a Novotel in town as well, a bit closer to the il Centro.

When I arrived at the hotel, it was 90% vacant!  After a few days, hoards of people started to check in for a convention - The 8th Annual World Buffalo Congress.

Wow, I can't say I ever heard of the World Buffalo Congress, but sure enough, it was an easy find on Goggle.  Buffalo cheese is a big product world wide.  I wonder if they brought any buffalo burgers along.  Beef here in Italy is not so good - just as well, as I'm trying to stay away from too much red meat.

On Tuesday the hotel will be 90% empty again, and for a time, that is just fine with me.

My Own Private Fitness Center

This is great - every night I go to the Fitness Center and there is no one there - never - even with the Buffalo Convention here.  I love it!

In Korea and Japan the hotels sold membership to locals that were not guests at the hotel.  Those places were always full of sweaty Asian men, many with bad breath!  Worse still - they were all thin!

So this place is perfect, a private gym every night of the week.  Wouldn't it be amazing if I actually achieved my fitness goals?  Well a partial victory seems doable anyway.
