Korean Kid Invasion on my Daily Walk through Dongbaek Park

I was standing on the large lighthouse deck overlooking the APEC House and Gwangan Bridge when out of nowhere I hear this buzz of high-pitched chatter and laughter. I turn around and see the first wave of a few hundred Korean Kids coming up the path, as happy as they could be.

Group after group, they just kept coming. Their destination was the APEC House for a tour. They all seemed so happy. I guess being away from school and their nightshift and weekend "academies" is reason enough. Korean Kids are pushed to their limits by their parents and a society that seems unwilling to change. So free time with friends has got to be great.

The girls seemed a little more reserved and inquisitive.

The boys were talking nonstop and highly animated.

Suddenly I'm discovered. The young man with the backpack walked up and shook my hand while stating in perfect English: "Hello, nice to meet you." Then a dozen voices: "How are you?" "Where are you from?" "How old are you?" "Do you speak Korean?" "Why are you here?"

One final photo before they all disappeared. Even the girls managed a smile!
