Vitamin E a Killer?

~~~
Glad these guys are going "all out" to protect us!
One ship drives east and another drives west,    with the self same winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails, And not the gales, That tells us the way to go.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate;   As we voyage along through life, 'Tis the set of the soul that decides its goal,  And not the calm or the strife.
- Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Who the hell needs wind when we got the gas?
We do have gas, right?
They're Back!
If you happened to live in a "battle ground" state, you were condemned to endure the biggest barrage of political ads in the history of the world.  Regardless of who or what created them, they were blatantly loaded with half truths, misconceptions, out of context quotes and outright lies.  And why did we have to endure them for so many long months?  Well they work, so say the media experts!
Just when I thought it was safe to turn on the tube again, the blue men from Intel are back!  So, joy of joys, the holiday selling season has begun.  I don't expect to see "The Clapper" or the Chia Pets until after Thanksgiving, but . . . oh I took a break tonight to watch the Simpson's --they're here, get ready for the next barrage -- they're coming in full force.  Good luck.
I'm thinking back to a time when I was influenced by a commercial.  I'm thinking never - but I could be wrong.  So, who then are the buyers of Chia Pets and "The Clapper?"
Oh - it's now 60 million plus - God help us all (without the aid of Ashcroft, thank you)
More coming on the charts below and Covey's new book!
The Eighth Habit
I'm not one to give much credence to the perpetual slew of "Self Help" books out there on the market, but I must say when Covey writes a book, I buy it  -- and this one has been five hard years in the making (so says the author).
I have yet to read it (or more precisely begin to study it), choosing first to page through and absorb the many marvelous graphics and quotes:
The difference between what we are doing and what we are capable of doing would solve most of the world's problems.
-Mahatma Gandhi
Well, I've given up on trying to solve most of the world's problems some time ago, but I never fail to inspire those who may be in such a position to do so with my wisdom.  Mr. Bush, for example, hears from me in great detail on a weekly basis.
Given he plans to hang around for another four years, I'll have enough material to put into a great book when he finally moves back to the Republic of Texas, with, of course, the hindsight and mounds of anecdotal evidence to prove I was right on all counts.
Too bad he doesn't read.
Anyway, back to Stephen Covey's new book.  The 8th Habit is (drum roll please):
FIND YOUR VOICE AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO FIND THEIRS
Now it takes a whole book to explain what that really means, and as I have yet to read it, I'll reserve comment.  At face value, I already am on the road to mastering the 8th Habit, right here and now.  I am, after all an inspiration?
I had a chance to get to the Boat Show in Saint Petersburg this weekend.  As I've given up on my California Dream (I don't have a million dollars for a house), I've amended it to having two places to live - one I've got in Piney Point on the Potomac; the second in Florida, I'm working on.
Either or, I will need a boat.  I'm hoping the question for me, down the road a bit, will be: is it safer to haul the boat down I-95 or motor it past Cape Hatteras twice a year?  It's a toss up (this is a dilemma faced by many Eastcosters ever since air conditioning was invented but totally alien to all Californians).
~~~

More coming a little later, it's time for my walk and I have this impulse to watch the new Simpson's episode tonight.

I'm back and the Simpson's was a grave disappointment.

CNN's insight into the coming implosion in Saudi Arabia was far more insightful.  Bush's buddy's are in trouble and it's all because of Sex, Drugs and Rock-&-Roll (kids not buying into the kingdom).  I wish Faux News could do some real journalism now and then.

~~~
The 60 Minutes piece on Burt Rutan's quest to commercialize space was most inspiring.  Makes me wonder if I made a mistake by not taking a job he offered me in 1981.  Well, he paid crap back then and most likely nothing has changed.
Lot's more to talk about on Monday.
This:
If one counts Iraq, expect a big spike in 2004 and God help us in 2005
And this on voting stats:
So if all the disenfranchised in America actually voted, would there even be a    Red Party?
No.
~~~

And the question of the month on National Geographic's cover:

Was Darwin Wrong?

Oh my, take a guess at the answer.

~~~
  • Plus an incredible insight to the correlation between the Blue States and night light from space (light being a damn good analogy for enlightenment).
  • So why did Bush win?  I tend to lean to this opinion.
  • The theme for 2005: Fundamentalism and its potential to destroy America.
  • Are there any fiscal conservatives left, if so you have my vote!  To bad the elections are over.
Blue about Red?
~~~

I can't resist adding these two, eh?

~~~
One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
"Which road do I take?" she asks.
His response was a question: "Where do you want to go?"
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."
